hi! my name is monstii and i have the worst crush on Atsushi Sakurai. well, who doesn't?

or, perhaps you dont know who that is... if so, i feel bad for you. im going to educate you to not be as sad, okay? okay. (•⩊•)

atushi sakurai & cat
ironically, he is allergic
to cats.
Atsushi Sakurai, (櫻井 敦司, Sakurai Atsushi, March 7, 1966 – October 19, 2023, pictured to the right with his cat) was the lead singer of the japanese band BUCK-TICK, starting as their drummer in 1983, as one of their founding members. he is a very well respected figure in the j-rock community and a very talanted singer.

BUCK-TICK is considered one of the main founders of the visual kei  movement,
and they have been in the music biz for about 40 years (if i did the math correctly)
and have gone through quite a bit of style changes throughout the years, but generally sticking to rock. band members include lead guitarist Hisashi Imai, rhythm guitarist Hidehiko Hoshino, bassist Yutaka Higuchi, and drummer Toll Yagami.

kagerou single
i mean look at it
now that thats out of the way, time to actually talk about the song! Kagerou is actually the song that introduced me to B-T. i was on youtube one day and decided to click on the song because the cover of the single (shown right) looked cool. to say the least, i was pleasantly suprised! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ )

the song itself is very catchy, and has a nice gothic feel to it, but it never gets really heavy, (by my standards at least, lol (❀❛ ֊ ❛„)♡) so its something that you can really get hooked on to your first listen. i'd have to say one of my favorite parts of the song (besides acchan's singing) is the piano (or string? or both? i doubt it) parts that show up every now and then that i think really add to the song a lot. ৻(  •̀ ᗜ •́  ৻) (even if it is a little hard to hear, but you can hear it mostly during the chorus. i looked it up on discogs and its keyboard done by Yokoyama Kazutoshi. thanks, dude!)
Another nifty detail is the mixing of the rhythm (?) guitar in the left ear. not much to say about it, i just wanted to point it out ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧
ANOTHER detail i'd to point out and  is really just a music trope im kind of a sucker for, the reapeated chorus at the end with acchan's vocal's echoed? mwah. chefs kiss. amazing.

⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡

honestly, im not the most devoted B-T fan to ever exist, and i dont really go out of my way to listen to their songs all the time, but this song is very special to me, mostly because its so good!! lol (。>﹏<)

if you, dear reader, liked this song i would also recommend delving into B-T's discography, however i dont think they really have another song that really sounds like this (though a good place to look would be songs from this era of B-T! a song i would recommend is kuchizuke.) but their other songs are still really good. would also recommend watching B-T concert footage, just to appreciate their great stage presence. good, good stuff.

that would conclude today's song spotlight, i honestly had quite a bit of fun researching this song and appreciating the mixing on it, as well as gathering info and looking into BUCK-TICK's history. i also got a neat lesson on Atsushi Sakurai's nickname, Acchan! learning! wow!

im gonna get some sleep now. make sure to have a good day, okay?

monstii signing off.
